Rosebowl Championships 2008

The Rose Bowl Tournament was unfortunately cancelled due to the other countries being unable to send teams.

March 27-29th 2008
The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association’s (BSRA) first adventure abroad was to Nassau, Bahamas, in February 1966 when a team of eight players did battle with Nassau’s finest. It was decided that the top five players from each team would play in the deciding match. In the closest possible finish, Bermuda managed to eke out a 3-2 victory.
A rematch was held locally in October 1966, when our team gave Nassau a 5 – 0 drubbing. The victorious Bermuda team hosted a magnificent banquet at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club at which a Rosebowl Trophy was presented to the winners. The name Rosebowl stuck and this tournament has evolved into a keenly fought annual event between Bermuda, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Cayman, and played a major role in the development of squash in Bermuda and the Caribbean.
The responsibility to host the championship rotates annually among the four countries and in 2008 it is Bermuda’s turn to host this prestigious historical event.

Championship Format
The Rosebowl championships are broken up into four separate team events, Men’s A, Men’s B, Women’s and Veteran’s. Each team, in each event, consists of five players. The Rosebowl Trophy is awarded to the country that accumulates the most points over the four events combined.
